Mitad Del Mundo - Red

This design is primarily a boundary, that would assist an office worker to find his/her privacy when necessary, and when there is a need to communicate, this boundary can be removed. The worker is alienated to his/her space because it represents the compelling hierarchical order of the corporate. If then, the worker can break the hierarchical order; it will reduce his/her feeling of alienation.
If the element of compulsion in the worker's territory can be broken, by allowing each individual to define their personal space, it will answer their basic human need for territory.

Mitad Del Mundo answers all of those; as it needs to fit in with the open plan space, as well as breaking it.
Because it has to fit order and disorder at the same time, it needs to enable the worker to see (communication) and hide (privacy) at the same time. An object that both defines a patch territory, and at the same time incorporates the imposed territory needs to be an object that can be manipulated. The space in the office is striated. To be smooth enough, yet not so much that the order would collapse. There needs to be a temporary boundary that can be relocated if and when it is necessary.
